|Printed photos are from when my parents came to visit at Easter.|
Now I like to pretend that i’m really crafty and creative but in reality i’m not. I enjoy crafting and all things creative but i’m just not very good at it. However, I am more than willing to give it a good go though. This can end in me really disappointed in myself when everything doesn’t turn out perfectly.
I recently subscribed to Johanna Clough on YouTube (channel linked here) and she posts tonnes of art videos based around all her different journals and project life books. She has inspired me to start a scrapbook for Emmy, which is something I wanted to do anyway. This has just given me the kick in the right direction that I needed. So far I haven’t started because we’re waiting on printer ink so I can print out more photos. I have been enjoying shopping for all the supplies that I need/want.
Not all of the things I’ve bought are essential, you could definitely make a scrapbook work with less. All you really need is a book, adhesive of some sort, a pen to write captions and photos/memorabilia to stick down. However with everything I do, I get carried away and caught up in the moment and always go overboard hence the 28 rolls of washi tape. Why would I need 28 rolls of washi tape? Who knows. Will I buy more? More than likely! Most of the things I have bought are from The Works or The Range as they do super cheap good quality craft items and I didn’t want to spend too much money to begin with. The actual scrapbook itself is from Paperchase but they also have lovely ones in Hobbycraft too.
I’m planning on documenting things like Emmys first bath, her first successful bottle feed, the first time she sat in a highchair. All the firsts basically. As well as things like family photos, outfit photos, photos of her room. Just anything and everything I can think of because I think it will be lovely to look back on in a few years both for me and for Emily when she is older!
I love my Instax camera as I love the look of Polaroids. I think they look so cute so I’m planning on using it a lot more to take photos of Emily. The little paper blocks will work well to back photographs and to add more decoration to the pages. I bought some little photo corners too to add a decorative element as well as the practical use of sticking the photos to the page. The tags shown in the photos were super cheap from The Works and I plan on using them for decoration and to add little notes to. I may also use washi tape to stick along one side to make a little ‘lift the flap’ type element to add a bit of journaling to the page.
My goal is to create and interactive, fun and decorative style book to document all our memories. I’m sure i’ll buy more bits and pieces too. I’ll be sure to do another haul if that is something you would like to see.
Do you scrapbook? Where do you find inspiration for craft projects? Would you like to see more craft style posts from me in the future? Let me know in the comments section below.
