A few months ago I posted a maternity leave bucket list. This was a list of 5 things I wanted to achieve before I returned to work. As it happens, I had to quit my job so I won’t be returning after all. However, I would have been due back on the 6th August. Did I accomplish all the things that were on my list? Time to find out.
Have a family holiday – This one has not quite worked out for us. Jordan was unable to book time off due to his rota, however we have got a couple of weeks booked off together in the coming months. I don’t think a holiday is on the cards quite yet but we have got a couple of day trips planned which I’m quite excited for!
Take more photographs – I’m going to say that this is a success but it’s also an ongoing process. We have got more photo’s as a family of three but I don’t have enough. Will there ever be enough? I don’t think so. We are definitely taking more photo’s though and I am loving my DSLR.
Visit the beach – This one we managed! Jordan surprised me with a day trip away on my birthday and we ended up at Rhyl. It was the most perfect day and we all had the best time. Emily loved the beach and since then we have visited the local park many times to play in the sand pit! She loves throwing sand all over me, it’s the best fun (apparently).
Do more activities – I’m going to class this one as a success too. We have had more visits to the park and the sensory room. We’ve also done a LOT of water play in the bath. We also did some body painting with coloured yogurt which Emily LOVED. I have plans to make a couple of sensory and exploration toys for her so I’ll be sure to blog about them if I do end up making them.
Visit my family – Okay so I have no plans to actually go home and visit my family. HOWEVER my parents and both brothers have been down to visit us and stayed over night in June. My parents are coming down at the end of the month at some point and possibly bringing a brother or two AND my sister, her fiance and his son are FINALLY coming to see us at the end of the month! I’m so excited!
Overall I think I did quite well with my little list. I accomplished a lot more than I thought I would in such a short space of time. It makes me so happy my family are planning a visit. It’s going to be so nice to see Emily interact with my sister. Especially since she can do so much more!
