Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower – Albert Camus
What better way to ease into the autumn content than a tag post! Everyone loves a tag, well, I do anyway. They are such fun ways to find answers to questions you wouldn’t necessarily ask. I didn’t write these questions myself, I found the autumn tag on a blog here. Anyway, enough explaining, here are the questions!
What signifies the start of autumn to you?
I want to say the days getting colder, but until this year England has always been cold! I think September and when the children go back to school signifies the start of autumn. The days feel suddenly shorter and the leaves start to change colour. I think by October you’re well and truly into autumn.
Best way to spend a rainy day?
I think the best way to spend a rainy day (pre-baby) is tucked up with a blanket, hot chocolate and a book. There is nothing cosier than that! However, now I do have a baby I think the best way to spend a rainy day is trying to find a lot of fun in the house activities. Emily likes to sit by the patio doors and look out of the window so we sometimes sit there and watch the rain. We like to look at books together too!
Your most fond autumn memory?
I think one of the memories that sticks out the most from my childhood is when we went on holiday in October half term. My mums friends owned a B&B in Malham and they had gone away for the week on a ”proper” holiday – as in they had gone abroad. We went to stay and look after their B&B for the week and it was so much fun! We went on lots of walks and drank a lot of hot chocolate. We also had some guests to stay too. I think I’d quite like to live in a village later on in life!
Favourite autumn scent?
The smell of baking! Does anyone else just get out all the recipe books and bake loads when it gets to autumn? We’ve made brownies a couple of times so far and we’ve got more on the list ready to bake!
What are you most excited for this autumn?
I’m excited about adventures with my baby girl. It will be her first autumn so I’m looking forward to seeing what she makes of it all. We’re planning on getting her some little ear defenders and taking her to a bonfire and to see the fireworks so I’m really excited about that.
Favourite autumn movie?
So I googled ‘autumn movies’ because nothing came to mind. However, off the list that I found, my favourite movie is Practical Magic! Witches, magic – what more do you need in autumn? Plus, it’s just a bloody good film!
What TV shows are you looking forward to this autumn?
Well since I’ve just started watching The Good Place, I’m looking forward to the third series!
Favourite autumn colour?
My favourite autumn colour this year appears to be mustard! But I live for the greys and a dark berry lipstick.
Favourite autumn fashion trend?
Jumpers. Is that a fashion trend? I love love love to wear big jumpers, leggings and ankle boots! Although this year I think I’m going to try wear jeans a bit more often as Primark have changed the sizing on their cosy leggings. I need to find somewhere that sells good leggings and I need to find it fast!
Your most loved outdoor autumn activity?
I’m not really a lover of outdoor activity, especially in the cold weather but I am looking forward to exploring with Emmy. I want to go find conkers and collect the pretty leaves and play in the park. I think I’m just excited to make the most of each day with my baby girl.
