Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time – Mina Murray
I was debating whether or not to write this post as Maisie has posted something sort of similar recently (which you can read here) but after speaking to her about it she said go for it so here we are! I mentioned in my October goals post that I wanted to start using a bullet journal. I started preparing it in September to start in October and I have used it every single day since. Today I thought I would share 5 reasons why I love my bullet journal.
A bullet journal is the perfect place to be creative. I find that adding small simple doodles and lots of colour puts me in such a positive mood. It also keeps me interested in using my bullet journal as it’s lovely to look at. It can be overwhelming if you scroll through Pinterest and see all of the perfect spreads, however I’ve found that looking for inspiration and then doing it my own way works well for me. Sometimes the pages don’t turn out exactly as I had hoped but that’s okay because it is a working journal and practice makes perfect!
Keep track of goals
One of my favourite parts of my bullet journal is my habit tracker. I set it up at the start of every month listing out all the things I want to track and then cross off each day as I do them. Having it all set out holds me accountable and I enjoy being able to physically see how I am doing. One of my goals this month is to read 5 books so by tracking my reading I am able to see whether I am on set to achieve my goals. So far I am one book down!
My bullet journal has allowed me to be organised in a way I never thought I could be. I would never have been able to complete blogtober without it! I set up spreads to cover all aspects of blogging such as post ideas, blogging schedule, blog to do list etc. Having all these pages to hand when it came to creating content was a god send. On the blog schedule page I set up check boxes to colour in when I had written the post, sorted out images and scheduled it. This way I could easily flip to this page and see what needed to be done and what I had already completed. I’ve continued to use these pages in this month and I’ll definitely be using them to stay on track for blogmas!
The nature of the bullet journal is that it works for you. You have complete control over how you set it up and use it which means you can adapt it to fit your needs. I have found some of the pages I set up in October just didn’t work out for me and that’s okay, I just haven’t added them to my November spreads. The system really is amazing and you can take or leave any aspects of it to fit your goals and your lifestyle. I couldn’t go back to using a traditional planner/diary after using a bullet journal.
I love my journal because each week I make the daily spaces big enough to write a little bit about each day. This allows me to reflect on the day and write about the things I’ve enjoyed or how I have felt. I love that I can look back at any day and see what I got up to or what activity I enjoyed with Emily. Its one of my favourite things about my bullet journal for sure!
Do you have a bullet journal or would you be tempted to start one? Let me know in the comments!
