Approach the new year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day – Michael Josephson
So, it’s been a while since I last thought about the blog, let alone sat down to write a post. A lot has happened the last few months and maybe one day I’ll write about it, but then again maybe not. Today I thought I would focus on the new year and the fresh start it brings and talk about some of the goals I’ve set myself for the year. As always I’ll split them up into two sections; blogging and personal.
15,000 page views – Last year I managed to achieve 5800 page views which I am so proud of! I had some really good months and some other not so good months so to still reach almost 6000 page views is an achievement. I originally thought a goal of 10,000 page views is what I’d set for this year but that’s less than 1000 a month and I want to aim high!
Post regularly – Safe to say I have fallen off the blogging wagon since completing Blogtober all the way back in October last year. However, I would really like to get back into it as I really do love this little blog and the opportunities it allows me to have. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself straight away but by the end of 2019 I would like to be posting regularly again (3 times a week).
100K monthly viewers on Pinterest – Pinterest is something I only started to work on towards the end of last year, but since my blogging break I haven’t even opened the app let alone looked over my stats. However, I know that with some hard work and determination I can get to where I want to be and that is over 100,000 monthly unique viewers.
Monthly Series – I’ll not say too much about this right now but I will say that Maisie and I have been discussing some ideas of a new monthly series or two that we would like to introduce to our blogs. By the end of 2019 I would like to have at least one of these up and running!
500 Facebook Likes – My blog Facebook page is still relatively new and actually a little neglected. I really want to work on this in 2019 and get to as near to 500 page likes as possible! Facebook is a fantastic tool for traffic when used properly so I’m going to invest some time into my little page. If you want you can give my page a ‘like’ here!
Read 52 books – As always I’m setting myself a goal to read more. If I put my mind to it I know that I could probably finish two books a week, but lets be realistic here – I have a toddler now. Long gone are the days she would play in one place and let me read a chapter or two. These days I need eyes in the back of my head and the sides too for good measure just to keep track of her! With this in mind I’m setting myself the target of 52 books. So far so good as I’m almost finished my second book of the year!
150 Hours Outside – ‘Yournaturallearner‘ on Instagram has started a challenge to encourage parents to spend more time outdoors with their little ones. 150 hours across the year works out to less than 30 minutes each day which is definitely manageable! I am all for this and I can’t wait to get stuck in! So far we’ve managed one trip to the park without the pushchair and a few trips to town (which I’m not sure count). Once the weather warms up I’m sure it will be even easier to get out and about!
Self Care – 2019 is the year I take care of myself better. What I mean by this is be kind to myself more and learn to love who I am. 2018 definitely threw some challenges my way and that left me feeling a little flat towards the end of the year. Dare I say I had a few days where, quite frankly, I disliked myself a lot. One of my goals for 2019 is to change this mindset and hopefully I can end the year on a high. Little things like getting my nails done, doing my hair more, spending an extra 5 minutes on my makeup will make all the difference I’m sure!
Meet New People – In 2018 I met up with a few online friends and I would love to continue doing this in 2019 (Georgia and Becqui I’m looking at you). It can be quite nerve wracking to put yourself out there and meet up with people but I’ve been chatting to these girls for at least 6 months and I just know we’d get on fab! I also plan to spend lots more days out with Maisie and Amy too, god knows I love those girls!
That was quite a long post for a first post back so thank you for sticking with me! What goals have you set yourself for the coming year? Keep an eye out for my monthly goals posts throughout the year as I will be sure to keep those up!
Love Laura xx
